Thriller 25

Media_http3bpblogspot_mnxab
Michael Jackson Thriller, the album that single handedly changed my life and introduced me to a new kind of music. I remember my father having a recorded tape of the album and listening to it by default at home. This was maybe 1984 or 85. I was being groomed into a typical 'iyer' kid, learning carnatic music. Michael Jackson's impact on me was so much that a few months later, i had stopped carnatic lessons for life. MJ madness peaked with my room plastered with posters. With the Advent of MTV(the real one) in India, the videos just added to the euphoria. Getting up at 6 in the morning to watch Billie Jean or Thriller on TV was probably the height.

Thriller's impact 25 years later ?? Thriller still remains the greatest album ever made. It's produced many MJ wannabe's, Justin Timberlake and our very own Prabhu Deva to name 2. Artists have used pieces from the album on their tracks. Remember SWV - right here ( Original song - Human Nature) and recently Kanye West - Good Life (Original Song - Pretty Young Thing).

I'm Going To Tell You A Secret

Madonna's latest documentary is worth watching and owning. It gives you a peak into all aspects of Madonna's life. You get to see a very mature Madonna with her political & religious views. You get to see the way she values and interacts with each and every person involved with her on tour. More importantly you get to see Madonna's family, her 2 kids and husband, Guy Ritchie and how they influence her life. Madonna herself said 'it's a different me", when asked about the documentary and if you've watched any of her previous ones, you'll know for sure. Madonna proves beyond measure why she is indeed the 'Queen of Pop' and has lasted this long unlike a few other wannabe's. So do watch it & if you can't get hold of the DVD ask me :)

Also worth watching : Truth or Dare

Sugababes - Ugly

Media_httpphotos1blog_wvexe

When I was 7
They said I was strange
I noticed that my eyes and hair weren't the same
I asked my parents if I was OK
They said you're more beautiful
And that's the way, they shure that they wish
That they had your smile
So my confidence was up for a while
I got real comfortable with my own style
I knew that they were only jealous cos

People are all the same
And we only get judged by what we do
Personality reflects name
And if I'm ugly then
So are you
So are you

There was a time when I felt like I cared
That I was shorter than everyone there
People made me feel like life was unfair
And I did things that made me ashamed
Cos I didn't know my body would change
I grew taller than them in more ways
But there will always be the one who will say
Something bad to make them feel great

People are all the same
And we only get judged by what we do
Personality reflects name
And if I'm ugly then
So are you
So are you

People are all the same
And we only get judged by what we do
Personality reflects name
And if I'm ugly then
So are you
So are you

Everybody talks bad about somebody
And never realises how it affects somebody
And you bet it won't be forgotten
Envy is the only thing it could be

Cos people are all the same
(The same, the same)
And we only get judged by what we do
(What we do, yeah, yeah)
Personality reflects name
And if I'm ugly then
(Yeah, you)
So are you
So are you

People are all the same
(Oh, oh, oh)
And we only get judged by what we do
(What we do, yeah)
Personality reflects name
And if I'm ugly then
(Yeah, so are you)
So are you
So are you

Album of The Year !!!!

Chemical Brothers - Push The Button

10 Years in the UK Dance Music Industry in a genre that requires a certain freshness, Push the Button is a spectacular jump back to the top of their game. First single and opening track, "Galvanize"is a little more downtempo than the brothers of late as they got wrapped up in a need to produce a dancefloor killer to match the heady days of "Hey Boy, Hey Girl"--it's not too different, not too clever, but has enough of the necessary "oomph" to make it an excellent start to the album. In terms of classic sounding tracks, there are "Come Inside" and "The Big Jump", the former a big-beat spectacular and the latter a definite tune to be heard "out". There are only two of the customary chillout tracks (think Beth Orton), there's "Hold tight London", an upbeat soca-styled song that's okay but not nearly as beautiful as sweeping epic "Close Your Eyes" featuring the Magic Numbers. A fantastic end to a consistent album that easily outshines its predecessor, Come with Us, and will hopefully herald a great year for electronic music.
