Harbour Bridge

The Harbour Bridge and the Opera House are the 2 things that come to mind first, when you think of Sydney. The glorious waterfront bustling with tourists, the shops, the entertainment in and around Circular Quay, the skyline dominated by the tall buildings of the CBD and the numerous eateries are all the things to look forward to.
The way both Melbourne and Sydney have made good use of their waterfronts is commendable. I rue the fact that the same cannot be said about India, where we continue to pollute our rivers and canals.

The NGV is located on the famous Saint Kilda Rd. The exhibition includes European paintings, Chinese, South East Asian and Indian sculpture, Modern Art and even Egyptian excavations. Highlight for me was
Anguish by August Friedrich Albrecht SCHENCK
The singer Farinelli and friends by Jacopo Amigon, where the eyes and the feet of the people in the painting follow you :

Katsushika Hokusai: The hollow of the deep-sea wave off Kanagawa :

The modern art section was a bit disappointing but i guess that is more to do with my lack of understanding.

Overall a worthwhile experience. Do visit the Tea shop, where you get to taste a variety of tea flavours from around the world. Though entry to the gallery is free, you've got to pay for the tea.

New Year 2010

Happy New Year folks. What a way to bring in the New Year, at the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Do enjoy the video of the fireworks display and endeavour to watch it live at least once in your lifetime. I believe it gets better each passing year and I can promise you, this is one thing you wouldn't wanna miss.
